Introduction of GS Mark

GS approval is based on Products Safety Law (ProdSG) in Germany, and is a voluntary product certification in accordance with EN or DIN standards. GS is a safety certification mark recognized widely in the European market. GS mark is well known throughout Germany as well as some European countries outside Germany, and is widely trusted by customers and enterprises.

Advantages of GS Mark

l Recognized by consumers throughout Germany and other countries in EU as a symbol of safety and quality;

l Provides a marketing advantage by creating consumer trust, confidence, and purchasing motivation;

l A product bearing GS mark indicates that the product complies with the requirements of harmonized EN standards, European directives and special requirements of the ProdSG;

l More highly regarded than CE mark, since the GS approval must be issued by a 3rd party authorized certification body, basing on independent testing, factory inspection and market supervision.

ZLS published the updated decision ZEK 01.4-08 on November 29th, 2011, which extended the total number of regulated PAH to 18. Recently the German committee on consumer goods safety amended PAHs test requirements for GS mark certification in the Products Safety Law (ProdSG) . The changed limits will become applicable on 1 July 2015.
