National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro) is the national accreditation body of Brazil, who is responsible for accreditation of certification institutes and testing laboratories, for the development and implementation of the Brazilian certification system. Brazil product safety mandatory certification is known as INMETRO certification. All products belonging to compulsory group are required to attain certificates issued by the certification institutes accredited by INMETRO, and affixed INMETRO mark. Compulsory products includes: household electrical appliances and similar products, circuit breakers, electronic ballasts, plugs and sockets, self ballasted LED lamps, toys, etc. INMETRO certification mode is: factory audit+ product type test + follow up surveillance.
