On September 4, the State Administration for Market Regulation announced the centralized acceptance results of the State Administration for Market Regulation key laboratories and technology innovation centers approved for construction in 2021. The Key Laboratory of Intelligent Robot Safety, State Administration for Market Regulation, constructed relying on GQI, has passed the acceptance and entered the formal operation sequence.

The Key Laboratory of Intelligent Robot Safety, State Administration for Market Regulation adheres to “Four orientations” as the strategic orientation, namely oriented toward worldwide scientific and technology frontier, the main economic battlefield, the major national needs, and the human life and health. It conducts research based on key points of domestic manufacturing development strategy and major goals of the strategic emerging industrial cluster of intelligent robots in Guangdong Province, focusing on the safety mechanism, key safety performance and evaluation technology of intelligent robot, market supervision methods and models. During the construction period, it participated in 17 national-level and provincial-level scientific research projects, took the lead in formulating and revising 25 international and national standards, and produced 33 high-level professional papers, 13 patents, 1 monograph, 2 software copyrights, 2 certification rules. It has played a vital role in promoting technological innovation in market supervision in the field of intelligent robot safety, gathering and cultivating outstanding talents in high-tech, boosting high-level academic exchanges, and supporting the development of market supervision.

The passing of this acceptance has further strengthened the robot technology service capability of GQI. The Laboratory will take this as a starting point to deepen the forward-looking fundamental research and application research, focus on addressing the safety issues of intelligent robots, manage the operation of the high-level innovation platform, and provide a higher-level technical support for the high-quality development of the robot industry.

In the next stage, GQI will enhance its support for the Key Laboratory, formulate the construction and development plan for the subsequent five years, organize the implementation of relevant conditional safeguard measures, strengthen guidance and supervision, explore innovative management models and mechanisms that are more in line with development requirements, enabling the Key Laboratory to fulfill its due function.
