Recently,in order to deepen thethe exchange and cooperation on quality technical standards, strengthen the convergence of rule and mechanism, and further promote the implementation of“Bay Area standards” in Hong Kong and Macao,expects from GQI and the Guangdong Lighting Association were invited by the Hong Kong LightingAssociationand the Macao Lighting and Optoelectronics Society tovisit Hong Kong and Macaoand carry out indoor lighting technical standards research.

The researchfocused on the published Guangdong localprovincialstandard DB44/T 2335-2021 “Technical Specification for Classroom lighting inPrimary and Secondary School” and theproposedgroup standard “Technical Specification forIndoor Lighting in Elderly and Rehabilitation Institutions”. The expert team went to St. Francis Xavier's College andSt. Francis Xavier's School Tsuen Wan in Hong Kong, andKao YipMiddle School in Macao to measure the classroom lighting parameters, discuss how the Bay Area standards can be applied to school lighting renovation to protectstudent’s eyesight, and gained the recognition of all parties involved, and strive to contribute to the upgrading of Hong Kong and Macao schools in accordance with the standards and to create model classrooms toattract the participation of more schools.

The expert team is concerned about the lighting health of elderly groups,They visitedthe Hong Kong Mrs. Ho Sin Hang Old People’s Home and Macao Tong Sin Tong Elderly Activity Center, to understand the operation of institution,assess the light environment parameters, collect lighting needs, fully listen to the views of the interviewees,provide critical reference tothe development of lighting specifications, and strive to make the “Bay Area Standard” as a model standard for the elderly.

As the lead organization for the development of the “Bay Area Standard”,GQI has been committed to promoting the docking of technical standards among Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao,in order to make the “Bay Area Standard” can be more practical, scientific and integrated.We will give full play toour technical advantages, under the guidance of theGuangdong Administration for MarketRegulation, to participatemorein theformulation of “Bay Area Standards”. We aim to promote theruleconvergence andsystem innovation in Bay Area, to practicewith the concept ofthe “standards connection and integrated development”,andcontribute moreto the development of the Greater Bay Area.
