To help enterprises better understand the new certification rules and standard requirements and promote high-quality developmentof the industry, the Seminar on theImplementationofGB17761-2024  “Safety Technical Specification for Electric Bicycle”, hosted by GQI andco-organized by the South China Electric Vehicle Exhibition Organizing Committee was held in Guangzhou on June 13. Xia Guoqiang, Director of the Third Product Division of the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC); Gao Yan, Executive Director of the Certification Center of Light Industry Council(CCLC); Huang Zhenze, Head of the Light IndustryProducts,Textiles and Garments Testing DepartmentofGQI; relevant technical experts and enterprise representatives attended the seminar.

Huang Zhenze pointed out that the implementation of the new standard is both a challenge and an opportunity. It isa challenge of the industry's overall technical level and management capabilities, as well as an important opportunity to promote industrial transformation and upgrading, eliminate backward production capacity, enhance core competitiveness, and reshape the market landscape. Technical experts fromGQI and certification experts from CQC andCCLC engaged in in-depth discussions on topics including electric bicycle certification and regulatory requirements, interpretations of keytests under the new national standard, technical challenges, and implementation details of product certification etc.. Enterprise representatives delivered themed presentations on “how to drive product technological upgrades and promote industrial safety and high-quality development.”

Thisseminar serves as a crucial bridge between the “publication of standards” and their “implementation,” further accelerating technological implementation and industry transformation, safeguarding consumer rights and public safety, and playing a positive role in advancing comprehensive safety governance across the entire electric bicycle industry chain.
