The national standard GB/T 38405.2—2025, led by GQI, has been officially released.
release date:2025-09-05
Recently, the national standard GB/T 38405.2—2025, “Leather and fur-Determination of chlorinated hydrocarbons- Part 2:Middle-chain chlorinated paraffins (MCCPs)” has been officially released and will take effect on November 1,2025. This standard is an important benchmark for testing harmful substances in leather and fur products. Technical experts from the Light IndustryProducts,Textiles and Garments Testing Department of our institute served as the lead drafters and took the leadrolein completing the standard's development.
The standardwith original technical innovations, filling thegap in testing technology for medium-chain chlorinated paraffins in leather and fur products. It addresses the challenges posed by the absence of standards, such as difficulties in producttesting and issues of standard applicability, thereby providing essential technical support to meet market demands, ensure product quality, and facilitate trade exchanges. Following the implementation of the standard, it will generate significant social and economic benefits in terms of providing technical support for market regulation, guiding leather product export companies to meet international market demands, and assisting enterprises in overcoming foreign technical barriers.
During the standard development process, our institute drew on its long-term technical expertise in leather quality and standardization research to propose a rigorous testing method framework, ensuring the standard's scientific rigor, feasibility, and applicability.Next, our institute will continue to use standards to drive technological innovation and shape a healthy industry ecosystem, collaborating with relevant industry entities to promote high-quality development in the light industry.
