Overview of IECEE CB Scheme

CB Scheme is an international recognition scheme for product conformity assessment operated by the IECEE (IEC System of Conformity Assessment for Electrotechnical Equipment and Components). More than 50 countries and more than 60 National Certification Bodies (NCBs) around the world have participated CB Scheme. The Scheme is based on the principle of mutual recognition (reciprocal acceptance) by its members of test results according to IEC standards, for obtaining certification or approval at national level. Using the scheme, a manufacturer can apply for a national certification or approval, basing on a CB Test Certificate and Test Report issued by a NCB within the scheme. The Scheme is intended to reduce obstacles to international trade which arise from having to meet different national certification or approval criteria, to facilitate manufacturers around the world to quickly obtain certifications or approvals at national level.

The CB Scheme is based on the use of CB Test Certificates which provide evidence that representative specimens of the product have successfully passed tests to show compliance with the requirements of the relevant IEC standard. For obtaining certification or approval at national level, a supplement report showing the compliance with the declared national differences can be attached to the CB Test Report, where national standards are not yet completely based on IEC standards.

CB Scope of GQI

GQI is one of the 9 earliest Chinese CB laboratories that have been recognized by IECEE. It is capable of issuing CB test reports according to IEC standards for 11 product categories (CABL, CONT, HOUS, INST, LITE, SAFE, TOOL, TRON, POW, PROT and OFF) with 174 international standards.
